Low flow and level are still prevalent but recent rains are slowly having an effect on the system. Water temps are still a tic above normal and clarity is good.

This October brought us low flows and warm temps which led to a very inconsistent bite. Fish were very scattered and transient which kept us on the move every day. We split our time trolling or pitching hair jigs depending on the areas we fished.

We did see a good number of big walleyes move into the river midway through the month. We caught a few of these bigger fish while trolling and also some pitching small bucktails to rip rap and rock shorelines.

We did concentrate on crappies quite a bit during this stretch and never found huge numbers but the size was really good. Big river crappies are always an option during October and early November.

I hate to see October behind us but as we see the vibrant colors of this month leave we know that November normally gives us some of the best fishing of the year and early indications are trending that way.
